Setting up Axis Compatible Cameras with Vector Snapshot

This article will cover how to integrate Axis compatible cameras directly to Camio Vector Snapshots without the need for an edge gateway device. This article will cover how to setup snapshot analysis.

Checking Axis Compatibility

  1. Navigate to https://help.axis.com/
  2. Search your camera model and open the user manual
  3. Navigate to the System settings
  4. Confirm the camera has the option for Events
    • Confirm Events can be sent to recipients as HTTPS

Setting up your Camio Account, Policy, and Keys

  1. Navigate to https://ai.camio.com/
  2. Sign In or Sign Up if you do not already have an account
  3. Navigate to the Policy Tab
  4. Enter your policy in plain text and hit save.
    • Alternatively, you can paste a Google Doc ID and hit save. This will use the Google Doc for the policy and will automatically update. The ability to manually enter a policy will be greyed out.
    • To revert, simply remove the Google Doc ID and hit save to allow the manual definition of a policy.
  5. Navigate to the Keys Tab
  6. Create an API key for the camera
  7. Make sure to copy and save the key somewhere safe as it is not possible to recover from this webpage after creation
    • If you forget or misplace your key another key can be generated and used instead

Configuring Axis Recipients

    • Navigate to System>Events>Schedules
    • Add a Schedule
      • Select Schedule (Not Pulse)
      • Enter the schedule you wish the product to run on (frequency of snapshots will be set in rules)
        • Create multiple schedules if needed
  3. Navigate to System>Events>Rules
  4. Add a Rule
  5. Check "Use this Rule"
  6. Set "Wait between actions"
    • Set the time to the desired gap between samples (i.e. 00:00:30 for 30 seconds)

  11. Leave Create Folder as blank
  12. Leave Filename as their default value
  13. Leave Maximum Sequence as 0
