How do I know that a Box can handle more video streams?

The maximum number of video streams that a single Box can handle depends on the video encoding of each stream, lighting conditions of each scene, the frequency of important activity, and the CPU/memory of the particular Box. Camio will soon automate the calculation of the maximum based on observation of the video streams already connected, but until then:

  1. Open your camio.com/boxes page to review the statistics shown behind the expandable section highlighted in orange below.

  2. Check cpus to verify that some of the CPU cores are below 100%.

  3. Check upload_queue_length to verify that it's less than 2 * the number of cameras connected to the Box to verify that your uplink bandwidth is sufficient.
