Why won't my video play in a Web Browser?

Camio stores the video from your camera or NVR exactly as it was originally encoded. Some older cameras encode video with settings that are incompatible with modern HTML5 Web Browsers like Google Chrome. So even though the video plays on your phone, it may not play in your browser.

Camio Box has an option to re-encode videos with the H.264 Baseline profile that is compatible with all browser.

  1. Open the advanced options of the problematic camera on your camio.com/boxes page.

  2. Choose Baseline profile from the Re-encoding dropdown and press Save.

NOTE: None is the recommended setting because the extra work required to re-encode video reduces the compute capacity of Box in handling more video streams.
