How do I fix my Hikvision NVR's garbled RTSP streams?

If the RTSP streams from your Hikvision NVR are green, gray, or distorted, even though they're connected with stream stats that otherwise look healthy, we've seen that disabling Platform Access Mode, then re-enabling it solves the problem.

  1. Uncheck Enable and press the Save button
  2. Check Enable and press the Save button.

The Enable checkbox is circled in orange below:

While you're on the NVR settings page, also ensure that the video stream has the recommended settings:

  1. Bitrate Type: Variable
  2. Max Bitrate: 2048
  3. Video Encoding: H.264
